Am I Pregnant?

Your body has incredible ways of signaling early pregnancy. If you’ve recently had unprotected sex and missed your period, you might be wondering whether the changes you’re feeling could mean you’re pregnant.

Early Pregnancy Signs & Symptoms

Every woman’s body is unique, and every pregnancy feels a little different. Still, there are some common signs that might make you pause and think:

  • Have I missed my period?

  • Why do I feel nauseous?

  • My breasts feel more tender than usual.

  • I’m getting up to use the restroom more often.

  • I’m so tired lately.

  • Why do I feel so emotional?

If you’re asking yourself, “Could I be pregnant?”, you’re not alone. Many women start to wonder after noticing a few of these changes.

It’s also possible to be pregnant even if you think you’ve had a period. Sometimes, light bleeding can occur due to implantation,² which happens when the fertilized egg attaches to the uterus — this is not the same as a menstrual period.

How to Find Out if You’re Pregnant

If you’ve experienced any of these symptoms or recently had sex without birth control, it’s important to get clarity. Branches Pregnancy and Family Center has supported many women through this same moment of uncertainty, helping them get the answers they need.

Pregnancy Test

The first step in finding out whether you’re pregnant is taking a lab-quality pregnancy test. These tests detect hormone levels (hCG) that indicate pregnancy and are over 99% accurate when taken correctly.

At Branches Pregnancy and Family Center, we provide free and confidential pregnancy testing. If the test is positive, you may qualify for a non-diagnostic ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy and estimate how far along you are.

Ultrasound

An ultrasound does more than confirm pregnancy — it helps determine whether the pregnancy is viable (developing as expected) and ensures it’s not ectopic (developing outside the uterus). It can also provide valuable information about the baby’s growth and help estimate the date of conception.
